- I just purchased a USR Sportster 33.6. When I search for a new modem
- in win95. It comes up with standard modem instead of USR. So I called
- there bbs and got the MDMUSRSP.INF file. Saved my old one elsewhere
- and copyed that into my windows\inf directory. I then went to detect
- new hardware. It still came up with standard modem. So I went and
- changed it myself to USR Sportster external 28.8. That was the only
- thing on the list that came close to my modem. Has anyone else updated
- this file and been able to pick Sportster 33.6?? That option isn't in
- the file I got.
- USR is surpost to have one of the best connection rates for noisy
- lines. The modem I had before this a was a Supra 288i PNP. It set fine
- in my old computer. In my new computer. It wouldn't hold the settings.
- The one thing I did notice about the Supra was that I connected at
- 28.8 99.9 % of the time. Maybe the modem lies? I have noticed that it
- was slower the some of my friends 28.8's. Making me think that it says
- it connects and 28.8. Then drops to a lower speed while still saying
- 28.8.
